Commemorating history, celebrating today and inspiring the future

In celebration of the RAF’s Centenary year, BAE Systems collaborated with M-is to produce an interactive poster showcasing the signature collection of aircraft that have taken flight with the RAF over the last 100 years.

Our in-house team of developers, animators and 3D modellers developed a web application using Augmented Reality to bring the poster to life. The poster’s main objective is to entertain, inform and commemorate, but it’s also a great example of the strong, long-standing partnership between M-is, BAE Systems and the RAF.

Anyone can scan the poster with their phone and instantly view each plane in 3D, zooming in and rotating, gathering more information and seeing them in flight. It’s a seamless experience because it was created to run in a web browser, with no need to download additional plug-ins or apps.

The good news if you’ve not managed to make air shows such as Farnborough or RIAT this year, you can still have a go!

Go to to experience it yourself. Just print off the poster to use with your smartphone at home.

The RAF 100 event itself was hard to miss if you were in London or turned on a television that day. A truly amazing experience for us to play a part in here at M. Take a look at what we captured below…
